Our Pre-School. Our Family. Our Community

Children’s Day Out is dedicated to creating a loving, Christian environment, preparing students for future success by growing them spiritually, academically, and socially. We seek to work together with families to provide an environment where every student, family member, and educator feels cared for and welcome.

Curriculum

Toddlers (15-23 months)

Our toddler classes utilize a theme based curriculum that focuses on language development, cognitive development, physical development, and social/emotional development. Children explore through hands-on manipulatives, imaginative play, and teacher-directed activities. Toddler class is Tuesday & Thursday, 9am-1:30pm. Our toddlers also have a nap time from 12-1:20pm each day.

2 Year Olds

Our two year old classes use Mother Goose Time curriculum which focuses on pre-literacy/pre-math centers (introduction of letters, numbers 1-10, shapes, and colors). Two year old classes have the option of a 2 day a week class on Tuesday & Thursday, 9am-1:30pm, or a * 3 day a week class on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 9am-1:30pm.

* September-March birthdays only

3 Year Olds

Our 3-year-old classes use Mother Goose Time curriculum focusing on pre-literacy and pre-writing skills, pre-math (introduction 1-20, patterns, sorting, etc.), and science. In this age group, there is an increased focus on intentional instruction in key areas of development so children ages 36-48 months can effectively continue on the path to kindergarten readiness.

4 year olds/Pre-K

Our Pre-K classes implement the Handwriting Without Tears Curriculum which focuses on writing, language, and literacy, and numbers and math. Pre-K also uses the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum to encourage the pre-reading skill/understanding that spoken words are made up of individual sounds. Science lessons focus on the scientific method of hypothesis making and discovery. Our teachers work on developing strong work habits, listening skills, and appropriate classroom behaviours and routines to prepare these children for kindergarten success.

Bridge

Our Bridge class is a transitional program to “bridge the gap” between Pre-K and kindergarten for children who require more time developing socially, developmentally and/or academically. By delaying the enrollment year for kindergarten, these children not only learn essential pre-literacy, pre-math, and other cognitive skills, but also develop social and self-regulation skills needed to succeed in school. While our class uses the kindergarten version of the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum, as well as the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum, our smaller class size and student-teacher ratio offers the time and space to build the foundation skills necessary for our students to adapt successfully to kindergarten when they are ready.
