Preliminary Presentation Renders
What is Building Tomorrow Together?
A building and renovation project that will allow us to consolidate all our children in a secure environment and provide room for growth. Parents of SLBC kids will feel confident that their children are safe and cared for here at church. It will improve our guests’ first time experience by expanding the Trinity Cafe and refreshing our Welcome Centers. An indoor play space will provide an area for children to enjoy all year round.
What is the phased approach?
A stewardship campaign will help us know how much money we can raise. Our first goal is getting our children in a secure area and together on the first floor. It will involve moving our offices to accommodate this plan. If we reach that giving goal, we can begin to think about adding additional phases which include a dedicated choir suite, additional adult ABF space, and renovations to our youth ministry space on the third floor.
How will this help us reach more people?
The future of our church is young families and children. This space will provide a bright and energetic space for children that parents and children will be excited about. Phase 1 will help us reach young families.
Does the project provide more adult Bible study space?
Yes! We estimate that the new facilities will increase adult ABF capacity by 100 people.
When will construction begin?
Phase 1 could start by late summer. Construction could take up to one year to complete.
Who is guiding this project and making decisions?
Our church has elected a Project Committee to help lead us in this process. We are also working closely with the Finance Committee.
How will we raise the money?
We are starting the Building Tomorrow Together giving campaign. This is a three-year commitment to give to the project.
Will we be pressured publicly to make a commitment?
No! What you commit to give is between you and God. No individual commitments will be announced publicly.
Will this result in more debt?
The amount of debt we will take on be determined by the shortfall between the campaign funds raised and the actual cost. We are working to make sure that the debt this project creates will not negatively impact our ministry budget.
What is the process for approving this project?
Once the pledges have been made, the Project Committee will make a decision about how much of the proposed plans we can wisely pursue at this time. The plan for financing the construction will be brought to the church for a churchwide vote in a special called business meeting.
What if I’ve never given to SLBC before, what should I do?
This campaign is a perfect time to start. We would love for you to be a part of our mission going forward. You can go to our website: sugarlandbaptist.org/give. There will be instructions on how to begin giving to the campaign.
Can I visit with someone about my gift?
Yes! Pastor Taylor has set aside a number of appointments over the next month to speak with church members about their participation in this campaign. Simply reach out by phone or email to set up your appointment today!
PRAY.
Pray for the Project Committee to have wisdom as they make decisions about the scope of the project. Pray that this project would usher in a new season of fruitfulness for our church family. Pray and ask God what he would have you to give to the campaign.
SERVE.
Because so much of this project is a remodel of current facilities, we will need to be flexible as the construction gets underway. Serve your fellow church members by being willing to change space or share space as needed during the construction phase of the project.
GIVE.
We are asking all of our church members to give generously and sacrificially to this project. Remember, your gift will make a difference for years to come. Gifts can be in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, and assets. All gifts are tax deductible.
This is a defining moment in the history of our church. In order for Sugar Land Baptist Church to plan and move forward with wisdom, giving estimates are necessary. This is a statement of intent and may be increased or decreased at any time. All gifts are kept confidential.
A giving chart has been created to make it easier to estimate your total gift over the three-year campaign. Click here to see the giving chart.
