Host an International Student for Thanksgiving
Imagine your son or daughter spending years in a far-away country . . .
How would you want locals to treat them . . . ?
This Thanksgiving, show hospitality to an international student by inviting them into your home and sharing a meal together. You can build a genuine friendship and have the opportunity to share God’s love with them. (Meals do not have to take place on the actual holiday, but could be anytime between November 21-30.)
How it works:
1. Sign up online at www.friends-for-dinner.com. The deadline for registration is Thursday, November 20, but the sooner people sign up, the better.
2. Friends for dinner will match you with 2 to 3 students and give you their contact information. They ask that you contact them within a week and make arrangements for your meal.
3. It will be your responsibility to prepare the meal and to help your guests get to your home and back to theirs.
4. They will send you some materials by email, which may help you understand your guest’s culture a bit more and give some tips for connecting across cultures.
5. Enjoy your friendship with them! Friends for Dinner will be happy to answer any cross-cultural connection questions that might come up!
In your application, you may include Melody Slaton (mslaton@sugarlandbaptist.org) as a reference. For more information, check our website at www.friends-for-dinner.com
