Resources for Looks that Kill: Practicing Self-Control in a World of Instant Gratification

Resources from Sunday, November 5, 2017 Sermon

This past Sunday, Pastor Taylor helped families begin the discussion about the dangers of pornography. Keep the discussion going with the following resources.*

    Websites:

Fight the New Drug (fightthenewdrug.org): A media savvy website that uses “science, facts and personal accounts to help spread the message about the harmful effects of pornography.” Blogs, videos, and free e-book downloads make this a great resource for families and individuals.

Educate Empower Kids (educateempowerkids.org): Parenting tips, resource lists, video lessons and more help parents talk to their kids about online behavior.

Covenant Eyes (covenanteyes.com): Covenant eyes is an accountability software that logs internet use and contacts an accountability partner with regular reports. The site also includes a blog and free downloads to help families address the issue of internet pornography.

    Books:

Good Pictures Bad Pictures: Porn-Proofing Today’s Young Kids by Kristen A. Jenson

Good Pictures Bad Pictures, Jr.: A Simple Plan to Protect Young Minds by Kristen A. Jenson

*A staff person or member of SLBC has provided a general review of these resources. They have not explored everything each site provides. Take this as a general recommendation for parents to use these sites as resources and not a full endorsement of everything each resource contains.
