Trips

This past Sunday, Chris Curran announced that he will be going in view of a call on March 4 to become the next pastor of Southland Baptist Church. Those of you who are new to our congregation may not realize that Southland is the church that I served before coming to Sugar Land Baptist. I am sad to see Chris go. You know, as well as I do, that he is an excellent minister. Because I love both the Currans and the people at Southland, I am also grateful that God has brought them together. Please, be in prayer for both the Currans and the people of Southland Baptist Church as they seek God's will together this Sunday.

Because of Chris's departure, we've had to make a few changes to the mission trips we are taking this summer. First, in August, Pastor Davey will now be traveling with the team to Kenya to work with our partner church, Kahawa Sukari Baptist Church. You can find out more information about that trip here.

June 23-30, I will be leading a group to the Dominican Republic to work with our Compassion International partners there. While both trips have spots open, I want to take a moment to highlight the trip to the Dominican Republic since its deadline is quickly approaching.

The trip is organized by Compassion. Sugar Land Baptist and Compassion have partnered together in gospel ministry for several years. In fact, a few years ago, SLBC families sponsored over 80 children in the Dominican Republic. This trip will give us the opportunity to see that work first hand as we worship and work with the local churches that partner with Compassion.

For anyone interested in joining me on this trip, there will be a short meeting in the Sanctuary immediately following the worship service this Sunday, March 4. A $300 deposit is due by March 9. The total cost is $2,250. Scholarships are available. Please let me know if you are interested in going. I'd love to share more about this mission opportunity with you.

Grace & peace,

Pastor Taylor
